The Desi Girl Look

Namaste Everyone,

This year Gudi Padva (Hindu New Year) happened to be on my birthday. While I went in for a western outfit for my birthday party, I wore an ethnic attire early in the morning for celebrating Gudi Padva. Since, I was done wearing Anarkalis I thought of wearing a Ghagra. However, the Ghagra I had would have been a little over the top for Gudi Padva and hence I thought of creating something on my own by mixing and matching stuff from my ethnic collection.

I paired a hot pink coloured skirt with sequin border with a weaved gold sequin blouse. I found a gorgeous pastel blue Odhani with golden border that perfectly complemented this whole look. The advantage of having a traditional skirt like this is that it can be dressed up or down and you don't even have to shell out much as compared to what you spend for a Ghagra. Since, the sequin top was a statement in itself I did not want a necklace to over power it. Instead, I went for pink golden Chandbalis, the flared design of which matched the flare of my beautiful skirt.

The highlight of this look was my make-up! It was all glowy and shimmery. While Oriflame's BB cream and helped in getting the glow, a mix of blush and bronzer helped in contouring.  The stick concealer left me looking so flawless. For eyes, I did a killer winged eye with jet black liner and added some golden shimmery eye shadow on eye lids. No eye look is complete without a mascara, so I added a dash of it too. I chose fuchsia lipstick for lips to balance out the pink in my earrings.

I thoroughly enjoyed putting together this look as it allowed me to utilise and test my styling skills to the fullest. Mix and match is a lot of fun. Try creating a new look from whatever stuff you have in your wardrobe and share your pictures with me!
